I recently heard from a client that she was concerned about not getting her name known in her workplace and being recognized as a leader.  She says she struggles to find her voice.

Interviews

interviewRecently a client hired me to screen applicants for an Office Manager position she was looking for.  I interviewed a handful over the phone.  If you get the interview, keep the following in mind.  You only have one chance to make a first impression.

Tip 1:  When you receive an email back requesting a time for an interview, be gracious and offer to call the interviewer.  Assuming the interviewer will call you can come across as arrogant.

Status

StatusStatus is about relative importance, “pecking order” and seniority.  Think about a time when you’ve met someone you really admire and look up to.  You may have built them up in your mind.  When you meet them you may experience being tongue tied, not knowing what to say.  Your brain shuts down a bit.  This is what happens when your perceived status is lowered, a threat to your status.
