Happy New Year!

happy new yearI’m starting off this year with an experiment.  I’ll continue to write this blog, however it may be a bit shorter.  I know you have a lot of things competing for your time and attention.  I’d like the blog to enhance your day, not detract.

I would also like this blog to be more interactive.  Please comment, share your thoughts and ideas.

I trust your holidays went well and now we are starting a new year!  So much to look forward to.  Cold and warm weather, new and old friends, new and comfortable experiences, changes and things that are the same – life!

Most of what happens to us is our choice.  Certainly there are times when we feel we don’t have choices – these usually occur when we’re under a lot of stress, feel overwhelmed or allow others to apply pressure expecting us to follow their agenda.

Next time you feel you don’t have a choice, use that feeling as a trigger to stop for a minute.  Examine what are the consequences of not doing what you feel compelled to do.  Is there another way to accomplish the same thing?  Can someone else perform the task?  Can you put it off to a more appropriate time?

Perhaps you will come to the conclusion that you will proceed.  When you’ve taken the time to think about what you are doing, why you are doing it and proceed because it is your choice, you’ll find your energy shifting.  You’ll have a much more positive outlook on the task at hand.  You’ll realize that you are in control and hold the power over your life.

I’d like to hear from you.  What choices have you made for yourself looking at 2014 (you may refer to them as resolutions)?  Leave your comments below – or email me you resolutions.  I’d like to give you some tips to ensure they don’t fall by the wayside.
